Course Name: Certified Scrum Master®

Course Length: 4 * 4hr half-days online.

Program Name: Advanced Certified Scrum Master®

Program Length: Self-paced mentoring lead program.

What is this CSM course?

The Scrum Alliance® Certified Scrum Master® (CSM) learning is a highly interactive, in-depth approach to covering the values and principles of Agile, and the theory, practices and rules of Scrum. It provides practical guidance for adopting Scrum and continuously improving your organisation.

Incorporating Scrum principles and practices takes diligence, patience, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Scrum is a framework, not a prescriptive methodology. This course will help you understand Agile, Scrum and more.

However, it goes beyond this to prepare the learner in becoming a great Scrum Master. It gives participants hands-on experience using Scrum and closes with a Certification exam. You come away with an industry certificate that recognises you as a Scrum Master ready to start being in service to the Development Team, Product Owner and Organisation.

Their effectiveness and influence as a servant leader are tangible and measurable in the value of each product increment delivered within each Sprint cycle which is at the heart of Scrum.

What’s the potential Value for you to attend this CSM course?

    • Increase your existing knowledge of Agile and Scrum to improve yourself.

    • Make yourself invaluable to your Scrum teams by helping them become the best that they can be.

    • Get valuable tangible answers to your real-world questions from expert Coaches in the field.

    • As the CSM is the most valued Agile/Scrum certification in the market, you can improve your internal and external career prospects.

    • And much much more ...

What about the other certification, the A-CSM?

The A-CSM is included in the price and is our self-paced mentoring program, from which you will deepen your expertise and journey with other Scrum Masters while receiving guidance from our Scrum Alliance® Certified Agile Coaches.

Through the mentorship of this A-CSM, you’ll self-develop and self-validate your learnings to:

  • Facilitate better dialogue between the Product Owner, Scrum Team members, customers, stakeholders, and executives.

  • Be able to respond when encountering resistance to change, lack of engagement, low motivation, and unavailability of key people.

  • Increase engagement to encourage greater accountability, commitment, and buy-in.

  • (De)Scale Scrum and Agile beyond a single team.

This is a mentorship program towards your Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM) certification. It is not a multi-day course, and it is not validated through one on one coaching sessions.

The learning objectives will be self-learned and then validated in multiple mentorship sessions with the Scrum Alliance approved Educators to obtain this certification.

NOTE: To gain the A-CSM certification you will be required to attest to having obtained 12-months plus experience as a Scrum Master. The A-CSM program can be taken at any time after completing your CSM certification.

However, you must have at least 12-months of Scrum Master work experience (even if you have not had a CSM for 12 months) logged into your Scrum Alliance profile before you are eligible to receive your A-CSM certification.

What will you learn?

During the CSM course, attendees will learn why such a seemingly simple process as Scrum can profoundly affect an organization. Participants gain practical experience working with Scrum tools and activities.

Participants leave knowing how to apply Scrum to all sizes of products, from a single collocated team to a large, highly distributed team.

None for the CSM course as it is not tech-centric, everyone is welcome.

For the A-CSM self-paced program, you will require 12-months of experience as a Scrum Master and a completed CSM certification.

How should I prepare for this CSM course?

Come in with an open mind to be challenged and the willingness to work with your fellow learners.

For the online version, will I need to install any additional software?

You will be required to install the latest ZOOM desktop/laptop software (avoid the web or mobile versions) and be able to access the Internet to use GOOGLE DOCS.

It is recommended you have a great internet connection via fast WIFI or hard-wired Ethernet cable. If possible, a 2nd monitor is a helpful option.

As a Scrum Alliance requirement you will be required to have your video picture ON during the course.

Don't skimp on your own learning experience!

What about exams and certifications?

Attendance and active participation across the course days will result in the registration for the Certified Scrum Master® exam.

The exam consists of a 50 question CSM test and answers 37 out of the 50 questions correctly within the 60-minute time limit to pass.

After you pass the CSM test, you will be asked to accept the CSM License Agreement and complete your Scrum Alliance membership profile. Don’t forget to do this!

Then and only then, upon successful completion of the exam and the formality of accepting the license agreement, attendees will hold Certified Scrum Master® (CSM) status. Congratulations!

For the A-CSM during your first mentoring session, we will discuss the required self-learning log, review the Agile Coaching Growth Wheel and agree on what outcomes you are looking for from gaining the certification.

You can then attend a combination of community events, peer events, workshops, conferences and mentoring sessions whilst working individually to fill in the validation log (a brief small record of your learnings). We shall provide the template log (small file) for you.

Once the self-learning log is complete and checked by a peer, we will spend some time with you reflecting on the difference the course has made to you. We will do this by reflecting on the updated agile coaching growth wheel and the agreed outcomes.

You will be required to attend at least four mentoring sessions to validate your competency against the A-CSM learning objectives. There is no exam for the A-CSM.

What will you receive?

After passing the exam participants will receive a free 2-year membership and a Certified Scrum Master® (CSM) certification from the Scrum Alliance.

When you pass the A-CSM program you will receive your Advanced Certified Scrum Master® (A-CSM) certification and continued membership of the Scrum Alliance.
