CLB - Certified LeSS Basics - Large-Scale Scrum

The Certified LeSS Basics course is a brief introduction to the LeSS approach to Product development. Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) is a scaling/descaling approach for Agile Product development with multiple teams for growth organisations.

Description

Online Certified LeSS Basics® (CLB®) Course — Descale Your Organisation, Deliver More

Scale and descale multi-team product development with Large-Scale Scrum — one intensive day, lifetime certification, no renewal fees.

Certified LeSS Basics (CLB) credential badge from the LeSS Company

Format: Live online via Zoom + Mural, fully interactive

Duration: 1 day (2 × 4 hours with breaks)

Exam: None — certification via full attendance and participation

Certification: Lifetime — no renewal required

Prerequisites: Scrum knowledge from training or practical team experience is expected — this is not a beginner’s course. Read the Scrum Guide thoroughly before attending (it’s free at scrumguides.org). We’ll also send you a link to the LeSS Scrum Guide ahead of the course. No prior Kanban or LeSS experience is required.

Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) is a scaling — and more importantly, descaling — approach for multiple product development teams. While most frameworks add layers of coordination, ceremonies, and overhead, LeSS does the opposite: it removes the complexity that has accumulated around your product teams and puts the focus back on value.

In a single intensive day, you’ll learn why most multi-team agile efforts accumulate bureaucracy rather than reduce it — and what you can do about it. LeSS provides simple structural rules and guidelines for applying Scrum across multiple teams, without the governance overhead associated with heavier frameworks like SAFe.

Cprime and global training houses charge around $700 for a comparable class. Our standalone price is £300 + VAT — and the 30-minute follow-up coaching session with your trainer adds a consulting layer that no standard class at any price point includes.

The Course That Teaches You to Do LeSS, Not More

Most providers teach LeSS as a scaling framework. We teach it as what it really is — a descaling approach that removes the coordination tax, eliminates dependencies, and gives your teams back the autonomy that heavy frameworks took away. In 2026, most agile leaders aren’t looking to add more process. They’re looking to remove it.

The included 30-minute one-on-one session with your trainer turns this from a certification class into a consulting conversation. For a senior manager or coach considering LeSS adoption, 30 minutes with a practitioner who has actually navigated organisational change at this scale is worth the course fee on its own.

What Will You Receive?

Scaling Product

How to avoid costly, failed scaling approaches and use LeSS to encourage shared whole-product ownership — without the coordination overhead that most frameworks add.

Eliminate Dependencies

How to delete dependencies and organise teams around customer-centric features from the Product Backlog — enabling true cross-functionality and removing the stream coordination overhead.

Organisational Design

How to structure around cross-functional, end-to-end teams working from a single Product Backlog — fostering genuine collaboration and accelerating delivery.

Answer Real Challenges

Practical answers and expert insights on the big mistakes most organisations make in scaling — and how to avoid them. Drawn directly from practitioners who have navigated these transformations.

The CLB® Credential

The Certified LeSS Basics® (CLB®) from the LeSS Company — a lifetime certification with no renewal fees, recognised globally as the foundation credential for LeSS practitioners.

Included: A Free 30-Minute Coaching Session After the Course

One-on-one coaching session via Zoom

Every booking includes a free 30-minute one-on-one session with your trainer after the course. This is where the theory meets your organisation — a private conversation about your specific context, challenges, and whether LeSS is the right fit for where you are now.

Discuss your transformation challenges and get frank, practitioner-level guidance on your specific organisational blockers.

Evaluate LeSS for your context — with someone who has seen what works and what fails across real organisations, not just case studies.

How Does the Online CLB® Course Work?

One Intensive Day — 2 × 4 Hours

Delivered via Zoom and Mural, the course is structured as two four-hour blocks with breaks. It combines instructor-led content with group discussion and exercises. LeSS builds on Scrum principles — empiricism and cross-functional self-managing teams — so you’ll recognise the foundations and spend the day understanding how to apply them across multiple teams.

No Exam — Lifetime Certification Through Full Participation

There is no written exam. Full attendance and active participation across the full day is required. Upon completion you’ll be recommended to the LeSS Company for your Certified LeSS Basics® (CLB®) credential. Once you accept the licence agreement, your certification is permanent — no renewal fees, ever.

Your Questions Answered — Guaranteed

Ask any LeSS, Scrum, or scaling question during the course — we guarantee you’ll get answers grounded in real-world experience. The course will help you determine whether LeSS is right for your organisation and give you practical ideas for applying Scrum with multiple teams.

Explain how LeSS scales over eight teams — and the structural implications of LeSS Large.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior Agile or Scrum experience?

Scrum knowledge from training or working in Scrum teams is expected — despite the “Basics” in the title, this is not a beginner’s course. A thorough reading of the Scrum Guide is the minimum preparation. If you feel you need more foundation first, our CSM® or CSPO® courses are the right place to bridge your knowledge gap.

Is there an exam, and how do I get certified?

No exam. You must attend and participate fully with your webcam on throughout the day. Upon successful completion, you’ll be recommended to the LeSS Company for your Certified LeSS Basics® (CLB®). Once you accept the licence agreement and complete your profile, your certification is permanent — no renewal ever required.

How should I prepare?

Read the Scrum Guide thoroughly before attending — it’s free at scrumguides.org. We’ll also send you a link to the LeSS Scrum Guide ahead of the course. Come with an open mind and sign up for free Zoom and Mural accounts before the course starts, as we use both throughout the day. A stable internet connection and second monitor if available are helpful.

How many people will be in the class?

Classes are kept deliberately small to ensure genuine interaction — not a passive webinar. You’ll have real access to your trainer throughout the day.

Are sessions recorded?

No. Sessions are not recorded. Full attendance on the day is required and is a condition of earning your CLB® credential.

What software do I need?

You’ll need the latest Zoom desktop application (not the web or mobile version) and a browser for Mural. A stable internet connection, working webcam, and microphone are required. Cameras must stay on during the course.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

We offer a full refund within 7 days of purchase and before your CLB® certification is issued. If your schedule changes, you can transfer your booking to a future class at no extra cost — just let us know at least 5 working days before the course starts.

Can my employer pay, or can I get an invoice?

Yes. Select “Pay by Bank Transfer” at checkout and an invoice will be generated automatically. Payment must be received before joining instructions are sent. For larger corporate bookings or bespoke requirements, please contact us at talk@agileaffinity.com.

What if I have another question?

We’re happy to help. Email us at talk@agileaffinity.com and we’ll get back to you quickly.
