Description
Product Management Certification: Earn the ICA Core Credential (IC-PDMT) in One Live Day
Work on your own product and earn your IC-PDMT badge, the first step towards the ICA Certified Professional in Product Management (ICP-PRD).

|
Format: Live and instructor-led, online (Zoom and Mural) or in person, as shown for each date Duration: 1 day (09:00 to 17:00, with a one-hour lunch) |
Credential: IC-PDMT Core Credential (about 8 hours of learning) Class size: Typically around 12, maximum 20 Experience needed: No formal prerequisites |
Most product teams can build things. The harder part is knowing which things are worth building. This live Product Management class helps you answer the questions every product comes back to: which problem are you solving, who has it, why does it matter, and how will you know you have made a difference?
In one day, you work on your own real product, online with Zoom and Mural or in person. You define it, give it a vision, set outcomes and goals, test your ideas with customers, and draft a roadmap. You leave with a clear product approach for your own context and the ICA Product Management Core Credential (IC-PDMT).
IC-PDMT is ICA’s Core Credential for Product Management and the first step towards the full ICA Certified Professional in Product Management certification (ICP-PRD).
How Do You Earn the Full ICA Product Management Certification (ICP-PRD)?

ICA awards the Product Management Certification (ICP-PRD) when you hold the Core Credential plus at least two Specialised Credentials, in any order. This class earns you the Core (IC-PDMT). Two Specialised Credentials, such as Stakeholder Alignment (IC-STAL) and Measuring Product Value (IC-MPDV), then complete the set.
Your Own Product, Not a Case Study
Every product exercise in this class runs on a product you bring. You define it, shape its vision, separate outcomes from outputs, set a goal with economics and metrics, test your value proposition and sketch a horizon roadmap. Then you take all of it back to work.
Because the work is yours, the conversations are real. Your group challenges your thinking, and you hear how product management plays out in organisations and industries very different from your own.

Every booking includes a free 30-minute one-on-one session with your trainer, scheduled after the class when you need it most. Build confidence before you take your first steps back at work. Our goal is to support your success beyond the class. |
How Does the Product Management Class Work?
One live day, taught by an instructorThe class runs from 09:00 to 17:00. Online classes use Zoom for the room and Mural for the shared board. In-person classes use a large room with flipcharts and handouts. Each topic is followed straight away by practice, so you apply an idea before you move on to the next one. |
You work on your own product, in groupsThere are no case studies. You capture your results for your real product, share them with your group and reflect together. Classes are typically around 12 people, with a maximum of 20, so everyone gets time for discussion and feedback. |
AI is a tool, not a shortcutPrompts and templates are provided for every exercise. You can use AI to speed up your drafts, or work without it, because nothing depends on it. Either way, you review and refine what you produce, and your trainer checks that you do. |
Built on the Double Diamond
We use the Design Council’s Double Diamond to structure your product work. First you find the right problem (Discover and Define), then you shape the right solution (Develop and Deliver), all on your own product.

Who Is This Class For?
This class is for anyone who shapes what gets built, or wants to. You do not need a product title, only a real product, service or internal platform to work on.
Product managers and product owners. Whether you are new to the role or aspiring to it, you get a practical framework for definition, vision, outcomes, goals and strategy.
Project and delivery professionals. If you are moving from managing projects to owning ongoing product value, this is where the shift in thinking becomes practical.
Designers, researchers and technologists. You work close to product decisions already. Here you learn how they are made and how to influence them.
Leaders responsible for product direction or investment. Learn how outcomes, economics and horizon roadmaps help you steer without false certainty.
What Will You Be Able to Do After the Class?
Define your product clearly. Use broadening and narrowing questions to reach a practical definition of who your customers are and which problem you solve.
Write a vision people want to follow. Draft a product vision for your intended users and refine it with your group.
Tell outcomes from outputs. Frame what should change for customers and the business, then set a product goal with the economics and metrics to measure it.
Understand your customers and market. Segment your customers, build personas, and choose discovery and distribution approaches that fit your product.
Test before you commit. Use the Value Proposition Canvas and customer feedback experiments to validate ideas on a small scale before you invest heavily.
Plan with horizons, not false certainty. Turn your goals into a horizon roadmap you can share and adjust.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any prior experience to attend?
There are no formal prerequisites. The class suits current and aspiring product managers and the people who work closely with them. What you do need is a real product, service or internal platform to work on, because every exercise uses it.
Is there an exam?
No. You earn the IC-PDMT credential through full participation across the day.
Can I also earn the ICAgile certification?
Yes. Our two-day ICP-PDM® class earns the ICAgile Certified Professional in Product Management certification and the IC-PDMT credential together, from one booking. This one-day class earns the IC-PDMT credential only.
How do I complete the full ICA Product Management Certification?
ICA awards the Product Management Certification (ICP-PRD) when you hold the Core Credential plus at least two Specialised Credentials. This class earns the Core (IC-PDMT). Adding two Specialised Credentials, such as Stakeholder Alignment (IC-STAL) and Measuring Product Value (IC-MPDV), completes the certification.
How should I prepare?
Come with one real product in mind, because that is what you will work on throughout the day. Joining instructions are sent before the class.
Do I need to use AI tools?
No. Prompts and templates are provided for every exercise, so you can complete them with or without AI. If you want to use it, bring your own device. Either way, you review and refine the results rather than accepting them as they come.
How many people will be in the class?
Classes typically have around 12 participants, with a maximum of 20. You work in small groups on your own product, so everyone gets time for discussion and feedback.
Are the sessions recorded?
No. The class is live and interactive, with group exercises and real-time discussion at its centre. We expect full attendance across the day to earn the credential.
What software or equipment do I need?
For online classes you need the latest Zoom desktop application (not the web or mobile version), a stable internet connection, and a working webcam and microphone, with your camera on throughout. We use Mural for the group exercises and send you the link. For in-person classes, flipcharts and handouts are provided.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We offer a full refund if you contact us before the end of the class. If your schedule changes, you can transfer your booking to a future class at no extra cost. Just let us know at least 5 working days before the class starts at talk@agileaffinity.com.
Can my employer pay, or can I get an invoice?
Yes. Select “Pay by Bank Transfer” at checkout and an invoice will be generated automatically. Payment must be received before joining instructions are sent. For larger corporate bookings or bespoke requirements, please contact us at talk@agileaffinity.com.
What if I have another question?
We are happy to help. Email us at talk@agileaffinity.com and we will get back to you quickly.
